Overview
Consultant Psychiatrist in Psychotherapy since 1989. Trained as a psychiatrist in Glasgow and Dundee and as a psychoanalytical psychotherapist at the Scottish Institute of Human Relations, Edinburgh.
Retired November 2013 from post as head of Psychotherapy Department, Royal Cornhill Hospital, Aberdeen.
Chair of MBT Scotland a global network partner with Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families. Acquired Scottish Government funding for 3 years to further the development of MBT across Scotland. Organising and supplying MBT skills training, MBT basic training and supervision across NHS Scotland as per AFNCCF quality manual. Developing a skills package for non mental health professionals e.g. health visitors and prison officers (involved in research into benefits of this).
Chair of the Scottish personality Disorder Network (SPDN) since 2006. SPDN is government funded network offering regular conferences and a website for users, carers and professionals interested in topics around personality disorder.
